P.S. 290Q

VJ Associates was selected by the joint venture of Michael Graves Architects and MMA to provide a Feasibility Study Estimate for the construction of a new 5-story primary public school located in Queens, NY.

P.S. 290Q will serve approximately 600 students from K-5th grades and will contain a main entrance lobby, classrooms and labs, District 75 special education classrooms, administrative offices, multi-purpose gym and physical education complex, cafeteria, library, and custodial support areas.  Some of the design issues addressed included a limited site area, replacement of retaining wall, potential underpinning requirements, access to site and building, playground security, and impact on the surrounding residential area. In addition to these issues, our estimate included demolition of an existing structure.
